Nicolas Rius to make sensational comeback in 2017

The greatest ever European jet ski racer Nicolas Rius is set for a sensational comeback as he looks to reignite his rivalry with P1 AquaX Pro champion Chris MacClugage in 2017.

Rius became the first non-American rider to win the world title in the early 90s and racked up 16 world titles alongside a whole host of European, French national and Belgian national titles.

The French-born Lake Havasu resident is returning after a long lay-off following a heavy crash at high speed in 2011.

He will be once again up against MacClugage, a 21-time world champion himself, who stormed into form late in the season in 2016 to clinch the championship at the final round in Fort Lauderdale.

Rius will be riding the Yamaha GP with the backing of RIVA Racing as he looks to challenge the strong Yamaha powerhouse of Dean’s Team Racing, which includes world number one ranked rider Aero Aswar.

The 2017 P1 AquaX USA season kicks off at Daytona Beach in April. Check out the full schedule HERE.
