Asif Rangoonwala, Powerboat P1 Chairman

Successful 52-year-old Asian entrepreneur, Asif Rangoonwala is a marine mogul, former bakery baron and property plutocrat.

Hardly the identikit of your typical money-maker, Asif is a self-made millionaire whose assorted array of business interests reinforces his multi-layered personality.

The first steps of a compelling journey boarded in Karachi, where he often experienced first-hand the ruthless streak of a wealthy father, whose acumen behind the merchant family millions showed Asif that a firm hand was a very persuasive way to make money. A transatlantic education gave Asif a taste for fast food and sport but it was not until after he made the move into business that his entrepreneurial instincts came to fruition; notably baking up the concept of Eurobuns Ltd, suppliers of buns to some of the world's most popular outlets.

Following the multi-million pound sale of the successful bakery business, Asif has moved into the captain's seat of the world's premier marine motorsport, powering away on his personal mission to become the Bernie Ecclestone of the sea. Privately funding the Powerboat P1 World Championship, which now includes the British powerboating series, as well as the leading international Aqua Bike competition, Asif's quest to conquer the world's oceans is operating at full steam ahead.
