Giancarlo Cangiano's #88 Kiton Outerlimits boat scored a pair of wins in Malta
Veteran Powerboat P1 racer Giancarlo Cangiano has been awarded a Gold Medal by the Gianni Petrucci – President of CONI, the Italian National Olympic Committee – in recognition of his 2006 Evolution class title.
The award underlines Cangiano’s impressive achievements over the last five years in Powerboat P1’s top level. His Italian-based OSG Racing outfit, which runs this year's #88 Kiton Outerlimits boat, has been a consistent frontrunner, even when it hasn’t been setting the outright pace, and has proved to be among the most charismatic teams in the championship.
“I’m enormously satisfied with this award,” Cangiano said. “It’s a prize that says everything about my team – a team that works every day to always give the maximum. It’s also good to see how powerboat racing is considered like any other sport.
“Now it will be important to continue working to bring the team that I created to an even higher level. At this stage of the season, our engineers are working hard on the boat to make sure we’re ready for the next round of the championship in Vigo in Spain in the middle of September.”
