Portugal's Portimao marina has undergone a 40m euro revamp in recent years

The Portuguese Grand Prix of the Sea has quickly become one of the most popular rounds of the Powerboat P1 championship, and we’ve put together a fantastic competition for you and a friend to win a VIP trip to this year’s event on September 26-28.

The sumptuous marina of Portimao has recently undergone a 40-million euro makeover, and – as such – it’s an ideal base for either a weekend of sporting action or just chilling on the beach. Its scenic waters offer a great venue for waterborne thrills, whether it’s sailing, yachting or something – like powerboat racing – with a little more adrenaline and a lot more horsepower.

Equally, the Algarve coastline provides an incredibly diverse array of challenging golf courses, while the streets of Portimao play host to plenty of great eating, drinking and dancing spots to keep you entertained well into the night. So, whatever takes your fancy, Portimao and the Algarve coast are the perfect venues for a late summer break.

We’ll fly you out to nearby Faro on Thursday September 25, and provide hotel accommodation until your departure on Monday September 29. We’ll also provide VIP hospitality passes for all three days of the Grand Prix of the Sea event. As well as getting a behind-the-scenes look at the Powerboat P1 world with a tour of the dry pits, you’ll be wined and dined in comfort with top class food, watch Q&A interviews with the pilots and get a prime view of the racing action from our exclusive spectator area.

To enter, just click here before midnight on September 16, 2008.
