The Portuguese Grand Prix of the Sea was launched with a press conference in Lisbon
Journalists gathered in Lisbon, Portugal, this week to hear plans for the Portuguese Grand Prix of the Sea, which returns to the scenic harbour of Portimao on the southern Algarve coast at the end of this month as the climax to the 2008 Powerboat P1 World Championship.
Powerboat P1 Commercial Director Robert Wicks was joined by the Mayor of Portimao, Dr Manuel Da Luz and Luis Calvario, Vice President of the Portugues Powerboat Federation to toast the success of the 2008 event. The venue for the three days of racing on September 26-28 will be the superb Marina de Portimao, located in the safest harbour in the country and surrounded by some of the best beaches in Europe.
After a two-month summer break, Powerboat P1 surges back into action next weekend (September 12-14) in the historic and vibrant port of Vigo on north-west Spain’s Atlantic coast for the penultimate round of the 2008 championship.
