Get ready for race action in Portugal
Saturday 27 September 2008

The sun shines over the Marina Portimao harbour in Portugal on PowerPole Friday
Well, Saturday may have dawned damp and overcast, but there are blue skies on the horizon and the possibility of a new Evolution-class champion at the end of the day, so we’re looking forward to a thrilling day of Powerboat P1 action in Portimao as the Portuguese Grand Prix of the Sea really enters its stride.
The SuperSport Sprint race starts at 11:00 local (10:00am GMT), while the Evolution Sprint race gets the green flag at 16:15 local (15:15 GMT). If you’re in the paddock and dry pits, there’s plenty to keep you amused, with exhibition stands, official merchandise and chance to take a walk round a genuine F-16 fighter jet – exactly the same sort of plane that will be taking to the air for a pre-race display with the ‘Rotores de Portugal’ helicopter team on Saturday and Sunday.
We’ll be showing race coverage on the big screens in the Marina Portimao and in the heart of Portimao city centre, and you can keep track of what’s going on with our live radio coverage on Kiss FM – broadcasting on 95.8FM and 101.2FM.
If you’re watching at home, you can keep track of all the action with our blow-by-blow coverage of the final race of the year on www.powerboatp1.com, following every moment live on Virtual Spectator or P1 Radio or through our news pages. And, remember, Sunday’s races will be broadcast live on Sport TV3 (www.sporttv.pt). Enjoy!
