#53 Pignolo throttleman Max Ferrari celebrates his first Evolution-class win in Vigo, Spain
#53 Pignolo team boss and throttleman Max Ferrari has said he’s delighted with the Evolution class team’s fourth-place finish in only its first full year racing at this level. The Italian entered a number of events in 2007, before putting together a full campaign with his Ilmor-powered Skater for the 2008 season.
Ferrari – who has been partnered by pilot Francesco Redaelli for much of the year – scored nine points finishes on his way to fourth in the standings, securing his first ever Powerboat P1 win in Vigo, Spain. He’s now looking at putting together a more comprehensive assault on the Evolution class for 2009.
“Our fourth place in the world championship is the best demonstration of how hard we have worked all season long,” Ferrari said. “For my pilot Francesco and I, this was our first real season in the Powerboat P1 series, and we have made a giant leap forward. We want to thank all our teams, our sponsors and our supporters for their backing this year. Now we are starting our work in order to taste even better success next season.”
