A group of 20 catering students attended the Italian Grand Prix of the Sea
A group of 20 students from the local F. Buscemi catering college’s Istituto Professionale di Stato per i Servizi Alberghieri e della Ristorazione got a taste of Powerboat P1 as they took a tour of the VIP Hospitality facilities for the 2008 season-opening Italian Grand Prix of the Sea in San Benedetto del Tronto.
The visit proved a great opportunity to give the students a taste of how catering and hospitality is provided for a major sporting event, with around 300 people per day being provided with over 800 sit-down and on-the-move meals per day.
The students were guided around Powerboat P1’s facilities by head chef Wayne Third, who explained the logistics and challenges of catering for a large event – particularly working in a temporary environment that is on the road for six months of the year, while still providing levels of quality control and health and safety that can match a top-class hotel or restaurant.
Six students from the F. Buscemi college will also work at the Powerboat P1 hospitality unit over the course of the Italian Grand Prix of the Sea weekend.
