ACANFORA DELIGHT OVER BAIA POWERPOLE
Friday 03 July 2009

Baia took their first PowerPole of the season
Title-chasing #38 Baia Attolini picked the opportune moment to claim their first PowerPole of the 2009 season the SuperSport class.
The Italian outfit recorded a time of 03:14.31 in qualifying - one and a half seconds quicker than Championship leaders #43 Seagull Chaudron.
Jubilant Baia Attolini crew member Stefano Acanfora said: "I had a very good feeling before today and I hope it can be the same for tomorrow. It is a fantastic start!"
Fellow Chaudron hull #44 Iko Casa took the fourth best time with #17 Spirit of Belgium, #28 Blue Shaft, #22 Big Sergio and #26 Team SW1 Capital making up the rest of the PowerPole competitors.
Unofficial timings had Team SW1 Capital as the fastest boat in PowerPole, but a missed buoy meant that Daniel Cramphorn and Kim Collins were penalised three minutes by P1 officials. Big Sergio were handed a one minute penalty for overspeeding offences totalling 16 seconds.
Technical problems prevented wild card entrants #59 Saho and #08 Phoenix 8 from registering a time ahead of Saturday's Sprint race.
