Ready for some Italian sprint action?

The San Benedetto del Tronto harbour shines in the midday sun

Well, it’s another beautiful day in San Benedetto del Tronto, and conditions are once again perfect for the SuperSport and Evolution Sprint races of the Italian Grand Prix of the Sea.

As with yesterday’s Endurance races, there’s barely a cloud in the sky, but conditions out on the water are slightly more windy and choppy. This should please the crews in the boats, many of whom find the early conditions on Saturday a little too smooth for their liking.

There are more than few furrowed brows in the dry pit, though, as teams and crew make repairs and modifications to their boats. This is particularly true in the Evolution class, in which over half the field was forced to retire from the appropriately named Endurance race. The majority of boats are out doing final testing right now, so we’ll keep you posted with who’s in and who’s out for the main event.

The SuperSport Sprint race gets started at 11:30 local time (10:30 GMT), while the Evolution class Sprint race is underway at 16:00 local time (15:00 GMT), so stay tuned for all the news over the rest of the weekend.
