P1 SUPERSTOCK ROOKIE TEAM OF THE YEAR PLACES FIRST EUROPEAN ORDER FOR P1-28SS

Powerboat P1 Management (P1) yesterday celebrated a highly successful launch of its revolutionary new P1-28SS race boat at Autosport International at the NEC Birmingham. The unveiling of the boat drew huge interest from motorsport fans and key industry figures who gathered to catch the first glimpse of the boat in Europe.

The very first order for the new powerboat was taken within the first hour of the motorsport show, with P1 SuperStock's Rookie Team of 2010, Flying Sparks at the head of the queue.

Robert Booker and Martin Wild from Berkshire competed in the 150 class during the 2010 season and were complete newcomers to the sport, fulfilling their ambition to race in the fastest-growing marine motorsport in the world.

The Flying Sparks duo are stepping up to the more powerful 250 class next year and will take delivery of their new SuperStock boat in March to allow plenty of time for testing before the opening race of the 2011 season in Cornwall in May.

Robert Booker commented, "We had a great first year in the P1 SuperStock series and are both really looking forward to competing in the 2011 championship with the new boat.  The 150 class gave us a real taste for speed and we just can't wait to try the increase in power that the 250 class brings."

Robert and Martin race to promote Sparks, the Children's Medical Research Charity.  Robert said "Sparks is a wonderful charity that raises money to fund vital research into illnesses and conditions affecting babies and children."  The media coverage that comes with P1 means that the charity gets tremendous exposure."  Martin Wild added, "The new boat looks sensational and we can't wait to show off the Sparks graphics on the new hull design".
