Team Purple pair Stuart and Sara Cureton (Lindford, Hants) produced a dominant performance to win both P1 150 powerboat races at the Peters & May Jersey Grand Prix of the Sea on Saturday, 11th June.
The husband and wife crew were never headed in either of the two races as they got their P1 SuperStock Championship challenge off to a perfect start.
"To be honest I am surprised the race wasn’t closer. We made two great starts and then just drove away from the pack. Although we had a fair sized cushion we never backed off at all. It’s just great to have started the season with two wins and maximum points”, said Stuart.
In race one there was a close scrap between Rose Lores/Tom Hunter in Eclipse and local St Helier crew Martin Colligan/Liam McDermott in their Team Fox boat, which went all the way to the wire with Eclipse just edging out the Jerseymen to secure second place. The result was repeated in race two but from the start the crews were separated and Team Fox could not get close enough to mount a serious challenge.
In race one Aztec Racing’s Azam Ali (London) and Jesus Esteve (Alacante, Spain) ran close to Team Fox in the early stages but their challenge faded towards the end. Sadly their weekend came to an abrupt end when Esteve succumbed to motion sickness and was unable to start race two.
Hemel Hempstead father and daughter pairing Vincent and Jade Berridge got their campaign off to a solid start in their boat Black Magic, with fourth place in race two on the back of fifth in race one. School student Jade is the youngest ever competitor in SuperStock history at just 16-years old.

1. Team Purple 40
2. Eclipse 34
3. Team Fox 30
4, Black Magic 27
5. Aztec Racing 14
6. Red Racing 13.
