Powerboat P1 Management would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ian Stirling, 59, from St Austell, who tragically died at the European and British Powerboat Championships in Harwich, Essex, on Saturday.

The P1 SuperStock classes were not part of the schedule at the Harwich Powerboat Festival on the U.K's east coast, but Robert Wicks, Chief Operating Officer of Powerboat P1 Management, stated that these terrible incidents are felt by everyone involved in the sport. He said: "The powerboating world comes together today to express its sadness at the loss of a respected racer.

"I am sure I speak on behalf of the entire powerboat racing community and pass on our sincerest condolences to Ian's family, friends and for all those involved in Harwich at the weekend."
