Queen of the Yorkshire Coast

Britain’s first seaside resort has been welcoming visitors for over 350 years and is still as popular as ever

The town has a wonderful mix of identities: fishing harbour, holiday destination, ancient fortress…and home to superb fish and chips. Look at the boats land the fish, watch it being freshly cooked and savour the taste of the sea.

The two sweeping bays, both with an award-winning sandy beach, are broken by a rocky headland topped by the 12th century Scarborough Castle. At one end of South Bay, with its working harbour for a small fishing fleet, pleasure boats and yachts, lies the historic Spa, home to the last remaining professional seaside orchestra. Where else can you relax in a deck chair in a sun court, listen to mesmerising music and look out across a stunning beach as you watch the spectacular action of the P1 Grand Prix of the Sea?

Scarborough is truly majestic...and will be a wonderful host venue for the opening round of this season’s P1 UK Championships this weekend.
