Racers, rappers and rockers heading to Gosport

Gosport gig to provide rapturous finale to P1 race weekend at Stokes Bay that has something for everyone

Sports fans and gig-goers will converge on Gosport next weekend (July 11 & 12) when P1 presents a double bill of marine motorsport and pop music for the first time. The move, which will see superstar rapper Professor Green headline a gig on Sunday evening after a weekend of powerboat and jet ski racing, is expected to attract more than 20,000 spectators to Stokes Bay.

This will be P1’s second visit to the town after it hosted the final round of the 2014 championships. The Gosport peninsula, which provides outstanding views of the Isle of Wight, represents one of the country’s finest maritime playgrounds and P1 chief operating officer, Robert Wicks is expecting some tough racing in the potentially challenging waters of the Solent: “Both our SuperStock and AquaX race series are hugely competitive this season, and with national titles to be won you wouldn’t expect anything else. The support from everyone in Gosport is tremendous and we want to put on another great show of sport and family entertainment this year. It will be a great day out.”

The two-day race programme will include jet ski freestyle displays, and one of the best places to enjoy all the action will be on board the Gosport Ferry as it cruises the waters off Stokes Bay on the Sunday of the event. Professor Green will appear on the P1 stage that evening, with the gig getting underway at 4.00pm. Tickets are available exclusively at on the day.
