Richard Rowe blazing in Scarborough
Richard 'Ski' Rowe
The first round was really hard for me mentally, I haven't been on a ski since the last round in Bournemouth last year and couldn't get the feel of the ski then after two or three laps got into it. I'm really happy with my performance but still room for improvement in my fitness.
The conditions in Scarborough were unreal - like a constant battle with the sea and weather, mentally and physically draining to another level and I couldn't walk properly for about 5 days, solid. I'm really proud of my son Aaran (who won the Rookie Sprint round) and getting a win was a real confidence boost for him - he just loves skiing.
I'm hoping Scotland will be a bit like Hull - a bit of a technical course it should be fast paced and flat out. A good result in Scotland would be 1st - to get some points on the board but I can only give it my best and see how Dave (Lee) and Ryan (O’Connor) perform. They were strong in Scarborough and really impressed me.
Counting down the days to Greenock and looking forward to some more adrenaline filled racing and a good weekend with some great people.
