Pertemps head home to Cardiff with top points on their mind
The Saundersfoot based team are ‘stoked’ about racing in front of their home crowd over the bank holiday weekend. Racing will take place over the Sunday and Monday, the action kicks off at 11am.
With the event being free to attend and the Bay providing a fantastic platform for spectator viewing they’ll be lots to see and do as the event coincides with Cardiff’s Harbour Festival with live music, entertainment and stalls there’s something for everybody!
Speaking to the team as they’re packing the truck for Cardiff we asked them their thoughts on the season so far….”we are still quite in disbelief that the season has gone so well so far but it’s all still to play for. This round last year we were ahead and were unable to maintain our lead due to a collision on the course which resulted in DQ [powerboat racing is a non-contact sport so if two boats collide they’ll both be disqualified] then in 2014 in the final round in Gosport our gearbox went in the last race so were unable to get any points which cost us hugely” Daisy commented.
“Yeah it’s all still to play for, Cardiff presents a different challenge as we race in 4 boat heats so the starts will be critical. We’d love to finish out on the podium but there’s 10 other teams hunting us down so it’s going to be tough! The biggest concern is going straight into Bournemouth next weekend….Bournemouth last year was a baptism of fire for me; only my second race in the Gallagher boat and in the brutal conditions we fought to a second place in on the Saturday. It’s not the conditions that worry us; it’s getting the boat home in one piece. But we were lucky enough to spot some fatigued parts this week which we have replaced so fingers crossed we’ll be OK!”
