‘The Great Gadsby’ takes first ever Junior UK title

Another unbeaten season for Lucy Gadsby saw the young star lift her first UK AquaX Junior Ski title after the season was cut short to just two rounds.

12-year-old Gadsby, who secured maximum points in both Greenock and Milford Haven, is no stranger to domination having won every race in the 2016 season when there was no official class for juniors.

She took no prisoners once again this season to take the inaugural Junior Ski title, including her sister Emma Gadsby who ended the season in third.

Bailey Gibson of Sapphire Racing impressed behind Gadsby in second, picking up a total of 136 points from the two events, whilst Rohan Malin, brother of Harrison Malin, took fourth.

There was also encouragement for another young female rider in Milford Haven where Katie Morris picked up 60 points from four races to finish on the podium.

Gadsby wasn’t the only female winner in AquX this season as Reanna Wilson took victory in the Ski Rookie class in Torquay last weekend by just one point, whilst Sophie Francis is making big waves in the United States and Jennifer Nolan aims for back to back titles in the 200 class.

However, she won’t be able to step up and look to make that title her own next season as current rules only allow for racers above the age of 14 to compete, meaning we could be in for yet another year of dominance from the Wigan girl unless her peers can step up and challenge her crown in 2018.
