2017 UK champions celebrated at the P1 Awards

Joe Harvey, Richard Cable, Carl Lofthouse, Lucy Gadsby, Reanna Wilson and Simon Gill collected their titles at the P1 UK Annual Awards Dinner.

The 2017 season was celebrated in style as Mercedes Benz World in the heart of Surrey played host on Saturday night for the P1 UK Annual Awards Dinner. More than 100 racers, supporters, sponsors, venue partners and suppliers were in attendance to see the 2017 P1 AquaX champions crowned after a competitive year of racing.

It was a glorious debut season in the AquaX Enduro Pro class as Joseph Harvey were crowned the 2017 champions ahead of Russell Marmon and third-placed Tim Batte. Harvey was victorious in six of the series’ nine races to establish himself as the leading UK racer.

Richard Cable stood aloft the 300 AM class when the season came to a close followed by David Coe and James Roberts respectively. The 250 AM class winner was Nick Brockbanks while a hotly contested 200 AM went to Carl Lofthouse ahead of second-placed Dave Lee and Nigel Williams in third.

Dominating their respective classes was Simon Gill and Lucy Gadsby as both completed 100 per cent win records in the Ski Pro Am and Junior Ski respectively. Following Gill in the standings was Rob Long and Cameron Green while completing the Junior Ski top three was Bailey Gibson and Emma Gadsby while Rohan Malin came in fourth.

Just one point separated Reanna Wilson and Dylan Green in the Ski Am class as the former came out on top. Rounding off the podium was Mollie Fearn in third.

Lisa Barsby, Head of P1 AquaX Global, reviewed the 2017 season by saying; "The racing was really good this year. The introduction of the Pro class allowed a couple of the riders to shine in the Amateur class.

“Scotland was great because of rough conditions and big crowds which the riders really enjoyed and it is always good to go to new venues like Milford Haven.

“Torquay is always a good place to go and is a rider-favourite. It is a hot-bed for jet skiing and is a great race venue.

“Congratulations to all the riders that won awards this year, we had great racing and they were all very well deserved.”
