One of the region’s most revered restaurants, Chez Achour (Rue Ali Belhaouane, +216 72 280 140) is exceptional – and ‘the’ gastronomic choice of seasoned visitors. Superbly cooked seafood is the order of the day. La Brise (Rue Elmrozka) is also an excellent choice. This a la carte restaurant located at the Hotel Omar Khayam offers scrumptious authentic Arabic cuisine, and also converts into a pool-styled bar later in the evening.

On a budget

Part of the Bahia Beach Resort, La Rosa (Bahia Beach Resort, Hammamet, +216 72 282 814) is a popular buffet-style restaurant with a diverse international menu. The food is fantastic, as is the décor. If you can, book a table on the terrace. Also check out Le Barberousse (+216 72 278 278). Expect fresh fish, a warm, romantic atmosphere and excellent service. What’s more, it has spectacular ocean views.
