Valletta, Malta

Getting There

While flying into Malta is clearly the easiest, least time-consuming option – given that it’s an island – travelling by sea is also worthwhile if you have the luxury of time…

Flying into Malta

Most European airlines operate flights in and out of Malta International Airport, or as the locals refer to it, Luqa Airport. It’s located eight kilometres north-east of Valletta. If you’re not using a hire car, getting into Valletta is relatively straightforward. Catching a taxi is clearly your best bet, although there are regular bus services that travel into the city-centre. Either way, allow around 20-30 minutes.

Travelling by sea

If you fancy something a little different, plan a trip to Silicy before the race weekend and catch a high-speed ferry service to Malta. Virtu Ferries operate three daily services during spring/summer, which take anywhere up to three hours. What’s more, you can also take your car if you book far enough in advance.
