Getting There
Getting to Vigo is fairly straightforward, whether you’re coming from mainland Europe or abroad. While your best bet is to fly, driving through Spain is a good option, if you’ve got the time.
Flying into Vigo
Depending on your country of departure, you’ll likely have to fly into Madrid Barajas Airport – Spain’s largest. The vast major of international and European airlines operate out of here, and it’s less than an hour by air as a connecting flight into Vigo.
Airlines flying in and out of Vigo-Peinador International Airport, the city’s major airportm include a variety of Spanish operators and Air France. It's located 15 kilometres north-west of the city-centre – you should allow up to 30 minutes, depending on traffic, if you’re planning to drive into the centre by hire car. Your other options are grabbing a taxi, bus or shuttle.
Other alternatives
If you’re flying into Spain’s capital, Madrid, catching the Motorail train is your best option. Regular services between Madrid and Vigo run daily and take anywhere up to four to five hours. Alternatively, you can drive from Madrid to Vigo. It’s about a six-hour journey, but you’ll see plenty of Spain on your way.
