Where to Eat and Drink

There is certainly no shortage of restaurants in Vigo, particularly for anyone wanting to sample local traditional cuisine.

In style

As far as fine dining goes – outside hotels, that is – Club Financiero Vigo (Garcia Barbón, +34 986 447 220, www.clubfinancierovigo.com) fails to disappoint. Expect delectable traditional Galician cuisine set amidst a suave ambience. Be sure to book ahead. Las Bridas (Calle Ecuador, +34 986 430 037) is also well worth the time, particularly if you have a penchant for seafood. Signature dishes include octopus carpaccio (translation: raw, thinly sliced) with watermelon.

On a budget

Interesting name aside, El Mosquito (Pl. da Pedra, +34 986 433 570) is a local favourite. Expect traditional Galician fare and reasonable prices. While it gets particularly busy on weekends, the potential wait in line won’t go unrewarded. Also try La Oca (Calle Purification Saavedra, 8, +34 986 371 255). The food is fantastic, the atmosphere inviting, and the fact that its clientele is predominantly locals is always a good sign.
