Visitors looking for high-end accommodation should look no further than the Hotel Pazo Los Escudos (Avda. Atlántida 106, +34 986 820 820, www.pazolosescudos.com). It’s truly stunning.
Not only does it exude an innate sense of luxury – the stylish hotel is a situated in a converted Galician palace. Comprising two buildings, it features 54 beautifully adorned bedrooms. Tasteful design and collectible art combine to create a unique air of luxury in each room. What’s more, the majority have spectacular ocean views. At worst, you can expect to look out of the hotel’s heavenly gardens, which, to a degree, are equally stunning.
Rooms are spacious and well catered for. Expect the very best – of everything. Here, items such a Bang & Olufssen television and a Travertino marble bath come as standard, as do all the amenities and services that invariably come with a hotel of such calibre. The Pazo Los Escudos’ sublime Alcabre Restaurant has an excellent menu, drawing inspiration from traditional Galician cuisine.
Add to that a warm, romantic ambience and exceptional service, and lovers of gastronomy will struggle to stray beyond the hotel grounds. Double rooms range between 570 and 670 euro, while an even more upmarket room will set you back 1000 euro.
On a budget
If you’re looking for an affordable, functional hotel right in the centre of Vigo, the Hotel Zenit Vigo (Gran Vía 1, Pontevedra, +34 986 41 72 55, www.zenit.hotelsearch.com/vigo) is hard to go past. It’s located in one of the port city’s most prominent shopping and business areas – its very close to Vigo’s most important avenues – Gran Via and Urzaiz – and boasts a host of amenities.
Each bedroom features modern comforts such as satellite television, internet and Wi-fi. Space is at a premium, as is peace and quiet – all rooms are completely soundproofed. What’s more, two-thirds of the Zenit Vigo’s rooms have magnificent ocean views. Very impressive when you consider its three-star rating, and subsequent price.
The hotel’s restaurant, La Rotonda, is outstanding. With the region’s rich, diverse supply of produce, the master chef combines traditional recipes with a flair for creativity. Whatever you choose, the menu is impressive. Expect to pay 54 euro for a double room.
