TEAM PROFILE
The #66 Cranefields Wine Searex Racing team flies the flag for Germany in Powerboat P1, and the Mercury-powered outfit is aiming to improve on an encouraging 2007 season with an all-new boat design.
As in previous years, the boat has been designed and built by Searex, the shipyard owned by the team’s owner and pilot Siegfried Greve. Searex first dipped their bows in the Powerboat P1 waters for two events in 2006, and showed more of their potential last year with a second place in Belgium. In 2008, a full campaign beckons for Greve and his team.
Searex’s new Falcon 40 boat is small by the standards of others in the Evolution class, but it is said by Greve to be “agile and punchy”. That could well prove an advantage on the tighter courses. “Our boat will be much stronger than in 2007 – and faster,” Greve says. “We expect to challenge for podium honours, although we are under no illusions that there will be tough competition.”
2007 RECORD
The #76 Searex Racing team made a great Powerboat P1 debut with third place in Germany, before going on to score four top-five finishes during their 2007 campaign. Their best result was an impressive second place in Belgium. Overall, fifth place in the Evolution championship was a satisfying startfor the team, but Greve’s outfit is clearly hungry to achieve greater things in 2008.
