It’s a new look for the #57 Centaurian Yachts Aquasport team in 2008, as a fresh crew aim to continue the strong form of the sleek Outerlimits SV40 hull, which is once again powered by Mercury engines.
In 2008 (with Lucas Oil branding and with Nigel Hook and Joe Sgro at the helm) this boat achieved third place in the Evolution standings. The speed is clearly there, and the performance potential certainly won’t be lost on Aquasports team owner Nico Huybens, who is one of the most experienced throttlemen in powerboating.
Huybens will be alongside pilot and fellow Belgian Frank van Hemelaer in the cockpit for 2008. The two work well together, and competed in the #57 Limmi Offshore Racing’s Mercury-powered Fountain hull in Powerboat P1’s Evolution class in 2007. Huybens will recognise the potential of the new package and will be focusing his efforts on ensuring that Aquasport gets the most out of the Outerlimits-Mercury over the 2008 season.
2007 RECORD
The #97 Lucas Oil Outerlimits boat achieved third place in the 2007 Evolution championship, and was only 50 points behind the title runners-up. This year, however, it is in new hands. Nico Huybens and Frank van Hemelaer, finished the 2007 season in ninth position in the Evolution class in the #57 Limmi Offshore Racing boat , but will be looking to capitalised on the move to what is a known to be a front-running package for 2008.
