In a championship that has traditionally been dominated by Italian teams, the new #69 Honeyparty.com outfit stands out as an all-British affair. But although it may be a rookie in Powerboat P1 terms, the squad boasts plenty of experience in offshore racing and is looking to cause a serious stir in its first year. In fact, as part of their build-up to 2008, the #69 Honeyparty.com crew dominated the American Offshore Super Series Vee Extreme class, before scoring a win in the Bournemouth-based Brass Monkey event.
Team owner and throttleman Richard Carr returns to powerboat racing after a 15-year break, looking to add to his famed Class 1 exploits in the Tekne Lamborghini catamaran. He brings with him experienced team manager Mark Pascoe and pilot Paul Sinclair, all adding to the broad depth of experience that makes the squad potentially much more threatening than any other fledgling outfit.
In a bid to try and gain an advantage over its rivals, Carr and Pascoe have opted for power from Chief Engines, custom-tuned by Tommy Hofstetter. The Miami-based engine builders have plenty of experience in racing around the world, and will be looking to make a big impression in their first year in Powerboat P1.
